Yes these pillows smell awful when you first get them but I bought 2 of them already knowing this. The smell is peculiar, almost like meat…so I left them to air for a few days & then bought tumble dryer sheets which I placed between the outer cover of the pillows and the foam. They masked the smell quite well & by 2 weeks after purchase, the smell had dissipated. The pillows themselves are brilliant & neither myself nor my husband have had any neck problems. In fact the pillows have cured the cricked neck issues we used to suffer with our old pillows. So if you can deal with the smell for a couple of weeks then these are a great purchase!
